That the UK conforms to Article 9 of the ECHR and stops jailing people for their beliefs

Article 9 provides a right to freedom of thought,, conscience and religion. This includes the freedom to change a religion or belief.

Yet – here in the UK, people are still jailed for their beliefs.

Leave European Union

To restore democracy and freedom to this country only MPs at Westminster (and peers in House of Lords) should be allowed to make laws. No laws should be imposed on Westminster ( and therefore UK) by EU.

All acts taking us into European Union and binding us in from 1972 should be repealed.

Repeal the European Communities Act

The Government is claiming that it will reduce the burden of regulations on British businesses and on individuals.  However it does not adit that its power to do so is very severely limited by our membership of the EU.  About 80% of our legislation and regulations come from the EU, and we have no control over them.

European Legislation

Do not just accept european legisaltion when handed down from Brussels. All such legislation should be treated as proposals until the UK parliament has examined and debated it. Only after successfully passing through this process should any legislation be made into British law.

No Abusing Of European Directives To Add Contentious Laws And Conditions Not Included In The Original Versions.

The EU,taxing, insuring and mot-ing a vehicle in any country ?

Hello,As a long term Motorhomer/campervan user i have noticed maybe a loop hole or unworkable/unfair use of our individual countries motor taxes etc.

I'm not sure if i can explain properly,i hope you understand what i'm trying to convey, but for instance,we are ALL  EU citizens now, apparantly all abide by the same rules and regs,my country the UK ,has certain rules and regs regardings vehicles, stating we need an MOT every year, road TAX  for use of the roads and a valid INSURANCE,paid yearly and also valid for that time,as far as i'm aware,so do all the other EU countries…

So,my point is,if i am away from the UK,and my Insurance/MOTor Tax runs out,I am in fact breaking the law,not only in the UK (and i'm not there, maybe in Spain at the time) or the EU law.

Why cant EU road users be classed the same, and for their convenience be able to recieve and purchase these documents ,ANYWHERE in the EU,as an example,i overstayed a long holiday while travelling Europe,i had to stop said holiday when noticing documents about to expire ! thus a long rushed 2000 mile journey back to the UK,to get the out dated TAX,that i hadn't or wouldn't have used (as being out of the country for 6 months !) an MOT,where as ANY qualified mot station in the EU could have made sure my vehicle was safe (as thats what its for) and that INSURANCE be purchased in any insurance broker (online or in that particular EU country )  as for instance,a Bulgarian can get EU cover insurance with even added perks of a green card that allows him  a greater number of countries of cover,it also covers him for the UK !! but the same Bulgarian/Spanish/Italian would have the same problem as myself and have to travel the 1000/2000 miles back to their country of origin,to be lawfull again, which seems in this computer ,open borders EU countries, rather ludicrous.

Can anyone see my point  ? please make a comment, and any Govt official, please look into this, before someone takes it to a tribunal/law courts …from a EU road user, with rights ???

Make British law surpreme to that of EU law

each day bits of powers slip away from david cameron due to daft eu laws which the vast dont want or need, years down the line the eu might take full contol in the event of this british law chould be top dog and EU law should be the dogs waste which may need cleaning up every now and again and be reminded whos top dog.

Make The EU Play Fair.

Britain was a proud nation, were we could live our lives in peace and have freedom of speech and freedom to express ourselves. Our traditions were our own and we didn't have to watch everything we say or do for fear of being taken to court over just living our lives how we want to live them.

Now we have an interfering EU that cannot keep their noses out of Britain's affairs at all. We have had the stupid banana rule, that they have to be a certain size and shape. We have had to change all our weights system with fresh fruit and bread, as well as other foods.

Now the tradition of buying a dozen eggs or  a dozen bread rolls is under threat, because EU have made another ruling.

We have had all the rules of open borders for trade, yet France totally does everything in their power to make sure they hinder us. For instance everytime that their lorry drivers, farmers, ferries etc have a dispute, they block the channel tunnel and the ports so that British Lorries that carry British goods cannot get through which affects the livehoods of British companies.

Our country is being overrun by illegal immigrants, and economic migrants, so that British people are not being given a chance.

restore power to the people – that is democracy

The repeal of the European Communities Act would restore power to the British Parliament which is still recognised gy the people of this country as their legitimate source of legislation whether they agree with the government of  the day or not.  This need not and should not prevent free trade and co-operation between this country and its European neighbours but, most importantly, the greater responsibility that would fall back on UK parliamentarians might start to encourage a better quality of people to seek those roles and the people of this country would feel empowered and therefore more engaged and responsible than they are when governed by unaccountable and distant forces about which they know very little.  The arrogance and corruption of EU officials is the natural result of having power without accountablity and this fault is sure to increase unless there are constitutional changes combined with changes in attitute to EU governance amongst all the peoples of the EU on a scale that is just not going to happen.  The simplest and most democratic solution therefore is to restore democracy to this country by repealing the European Communities Act.

let us have bent beans, and bent cucumbers.

get rid of eu rules that say we cannot possibly eat a bent cucumber or a curly french bean. yes we can. i grow veg and bent  beans taste the same as straight ones. this insane ruling just increases prices. get rid. give us the choice of a bent or straight bean.

Simple democratic freedom.

British people have been accustomed to democratic freedom for many hundreds of years: we have fought two world wars to protect it.

The European Communities Act if 1972, deceived British voters and the Lisbon Treaty in 2009 betrayed our trust in the government to hold the promised referendum.  In my view, that is treachery in the extreme.

Repeal the ‘Work at Height Regulations 2005’

These are a prime example of regulations which add to business costs whilst providing unnecessary 'worker protection'. Telling workers when and how to use a ladder, or 'avoid work at height where they can', or secure themselves to a 'fall restraint system', is the nanny state at its worst. The regulations are a slavish " 'ealth and safety" response to a EU directive, implemented without  common sense and patronising to workers.

100 watt Light Bulbs

Give the public the right to buy 100 watt incandescent electric light bulbs. These have been banned by the EU in favour of fluourscents, but give a poor quality light. This causes eye strain, may lead to permanent eye damage, and some people compensate by turning on multiple lights or using secondary tungsten spot lights – this can increase electricity consumption.

The young need good lights for homework.

The elderly and middle aged often have some occular degradation, and require a sharp bright light to read small print on cooking instructions, medicines, etc.

By all means discourage use of high wattage bulbs – add a £1 environment tax – but don't outlaw them.

Immigration law madness

Why is it that an immigrant from the eu is allowed to remain in this country even if they have a criminal record from their own country and then commit further offences here? Britain should have the power to remove such individuals, regardless of eu laws on freedom of movement!!

Immigration Controls

In the 1970s I travel from England to France on a regular basis on the return journey you were required to see an imigration officer on the boat if you were from outside the UK you would be challenged as to why you were coming to the UK and had to prove that you had the means to support yourself. On several trips people were refused entry had to stay on the boat and were returned to France. I know that some people who are reading this will think that they were all non white, Well sorry to disapoint you there were several Americans. This was a system that worked the last time I was in the USA they operated a similar system.

Address Government’s limited power to block or repeal EU Regulations

Address the problem of the Government's limited power to block new EU Regulations.

Protect and Restore our Sovereign Rights.

Address the problem of the Government's limited power to repeal existing EU Regulations.

More time and attention should be given to negotiate and release our nation from the Red Tape that the EU has imposed, so that our elected government has more room to manoeuvre in introducing new domestic regulations.

Revoke the Lisbon Treaty

Leave the EU. Assume a relationship with it like those of Switzerland and Norway.

The moderator will respond with "Please understand that we won't able to respond to ideas that relate to laws and regulations that are outside the remit of central government – including those that fall under the jurisdiction of Europe. "

By such a response, so HMG ignores the wishes of the people, the majority of whom wish to leave and feel that membership of the EU is bad for Britain.

Join Schengen to fully comply with EU freedom of movement

The UK should grow up and fully join the EU by joining Schengen, the only way to fully abide by the principle of freedom of movement of PEOPLE, i.e. human beings, inside the EU. To say that there is freedom of movement between the UK and the rest of the EU and viceversa is an insult to intelligent and a total misrepresentation of the truth. The is only police controled 'freedom of movement' which is applicable to holders of certain passports only.

The UK governement (this one and the past one) keep going on about the single market and liberalising markets etc. and yet they constantly subject the freedom of movement of people inside the EU and the single market to endless restrictions, red tape and bureaucracy. For the British governement and its cheerleaders the right wing media (i.e. the one that calls the shots) only goods and money should enjoy full freedom of movement inside the EU, human beings should not.

Stop Local Councils from Prosecuting Innocent People with Barmy Laws

Local councils are threatening to prosecute and are even prosecuting law abiding people (who are not harming anyone else and in some cases actually trying to improve society) for some of the most bizarre reasons.

If you do not believe me consider the following absolutely true and completely daft cases that have appeared in the national and local press

(i) Wiltshire Council threatened a man with prosecution if he cleaned the grass verge outside his property .

(ii) Copeland Borough Council fined a man because his wheelie bin lid was overfilled by four inches.

(iii) Swansea Council prosecuted a man for accidentally putting the rubbish in the wrong cycling bin and now he has a criminal record. The irony here was this man was a keen recycler who was trying hard to recycle.

(iv) Havering Council prosecutes a law abiding shop owner for a scap of paper 120 yards from his shop. That could happen to anyone, for all we know the paper could have been dropped when the bin men last collected the bins or it could have just blown out of the bin.

(v) Ipswich Council fined a 14 year old £50 for feeding a seagull half a chip.

(vi) Hinckley and Bosworth Council prosecuted a man for putting two pieces of junk mail into a street bin with his address on it. Is it really a criminal offence to put rubbish in a street bin?

I could go on and on…

My proposals are that the government should, at the very least, be minded to:

(1)  reword or even, in some cases repeal, any central government laws which allows such crazy prosecutions (or crazy threats to prosecute). I realise that for local bye-laws it might be difficult for central government to do anything.

(2)  not use the criminal law over such trivial matters. Something as serious as a criminal prosecution is not appropriate for some trivial offence like putting rubbish in the wrong place. In none of these cases has anyone deliberately littered or deliberately refused to recycle. Maybe this could be achieved by primary legislation in parliament.

(3) tell councils very firmly that they must use their powers far more sparingly and far more responsibly.

Repeal European Communities (Finance) Act 2008

The UK's net contribution to the EU budget – ie the amount we pay in that is above and beyond what we get back in EU grants – is going up.

Over 2007-9 it was in the order of £4.7 billion. That's now rising over 2010-3 to between £6-6.8 billion. That's according to recent official Government statistics.

The principle reason for this change is the 2008 Act of Parliament that put into force the deal Tony Blair reached with other EU leaders.

The extra £2 billion a year to Brussels was the price British taxpayers were supposed to pay in return for massive reform of the disastrous Common Agricultural Policy. But the promises made by the French and others have not been kept.

If you paid for something by mail order and it never got sent, you'd demand a refund.

Given the huge budget cuts that the UK is now facing, we should get this money back.
