controlled drugs

The idea

We GPs are now required to fill in an onerous 15 page form to be allowed to carry strong painkillers in our doctors bags. As a result the majority of GPs are opting not to have strong painkillers available for giving out to patients. They have to give out a script which delays matters and at weekends can cause long delays.

This has just been brought in and previously 29,999 GPs have not had any problem with carrying small amounts of controlled painkillers. Because one GP Dr Shipman was a killer the other 29,999 have been penalised and great barriers errected to our efficient working and the main people to suffer are the publlic. Please lighten up on the CD regulations and trust us as doctors!

Why is it important?

because in future most GPs will no longer carry effective pain relief.
