LABELLING OF MEAT PRODUCTS WITH ANIMAL IMAGES

The idea

I have noticed that the main supermarkets and leading food retailers do not have images of the animals from which the meat in the packaging comes. This seems odd as the tins of fruit and other products show images of strawberries, cherries, apricots etc. I suspect that the supermarkets wish us to think that their meat is some delicious plasticky substance that it manufactured and no animal is killed to make it. Many children do not know what domestic farm animals look like and what meat come from them. This is just another factor which is causing a rift between town and country dwellers.

Why is it important?

Meat packaging should show clearly whcih animal the meat comes from so the public can appreciate what they are really eating. For instance if it is beef then a picture of a cow or a bull should be depicted!
