Ban CCTV in Public Places

The idea

Outlaw spy cameras in public places.

Why is it important?

To restore the right to privacy in a public place and to restore the notion of a public place as opposed to state space. They are not 'closed circuit' as they are joined up to a network which is viewed in control rooms and they do nothing to prevent crime whilst at the same time damage the relationship between the members of the community and the community and the state by creating suspicion and mistrust. In addition, the ability of the state to track individuals by CCTV and ANPR is profoundly authoritarian and assumes that the public are always up to no good and need to be monitored.

Say NO to CCTV!
