The idea
Discontinue the IVA test for cars
Why is it important?
Kit and short run production cars are tested at special facilities by specialist testers doing an IVA test which takes around four hours. The test rules are changed frequently requiring endless publications of updates, though the actual cars change very little indeed. Up to around the year 2000 the same job was done in a regular MOT test, and as far as I know, no statistics show that the current system savesany extra lives. A whole bureaucracy has grown up around this small and rather obscure area and could be completely removed by going back to pre-IVA systems, thus saving a lot of money.
