Stop jailing parents for the truancy of their children.
Why is it important?
Parents, almost exclusively mothers, are being jailed for the truancy of their children. If the government were really interested in improving the lives of children they would not be jailing parents for truancy. Our prisons are full. We jail far too many people already. Separating a child from a parent helps no-one. More should be done to find out why children vote with their feet and stay away from school rather than making criminals of their parents.
