amend the smoking ban.

I believe that there are two possible course of action to take with this problem:

1) allow the lanlords of the pubs to decide whether or not their pub would thrive if the customers  would be allowed to smoke in the pub. This would apply mainly to country pubs that have a 90-100% smoking rate amongst its regulars and are too poor to be able to afford to build a smoking shelter for its customers.

The Town gastropubs like Wetherspoons etc may decide not to go with a change to the present conditions as it would conflicts with their food eating customers.

2) Go with the original law that was promised by the labour party in the 2005 manifesto, which stated that there would become a two-tier system. Wet pubs, of whose earnings were made up of less than 10% food sales, and food pubs of whose food sales made up more than 10% of their takings (wetherspoons, etc)

An Amendment to the current smoking debarcle, would enable countless pubs across the country to be saved and would bring back together the fabric of these rural and urban communities.

All I have seen happening since 1 july 2007 ( the day after tony blair left office), is a total vacuum caused by the lack of atmosphere in the average pub, and a continous procession of customers leaving and entering the premises to go and enjoy a cigarette.

No doubt the big boys of the pub industry will fight against a change to the current situation, as it suits them to have the smaller local pubs going out of business. But, is disastorus for the pub inustry at large.

Please do whats right for the country and countless comunitees across it, amend the smoking ban, Please.

Why is it important?

It will bring back together the fabric of countless comunitees across the country and give a huge moral boost to all corners of the country just when it needs it most.

It will also help to save the dying pub industry from extinction.
