The idea
We all know that the NHS is under tremendous strain both financially and in staff numbers.
Anyone who has had the misfortune of going into A&E on a Friday or Saturday night will know that the waiting area is often full of drunk people who have either become involved in a drunken fight or injured themselves due to being drunk.
These injuries are self inflicted and increase the waiting times for everyone as well as make it uncomfortable for other paitents waiting for treatment.
Anyone who comes into A&E should be breathalysed and if they are over a set limit then they should be billed for their treatment.
Why is it important?
It will reduce waiting times in A&E.
It will allow hospitals to be reinburst for treatment required for self inflicted drunken behaviour.
It forces people to be financially responsible for the choices they make when getting drunk.
