Leaving the EU

The idea

Before we joined the EU we were a free country.  In Britain we were free to do anything unless there was a law against it.  Under most European regimes, the people are only able to do what is permitted by their governments.

The EU has produced many thousands of directives and regulations, many of which curtail our freedoms and have ruined our way of life, damaged our legal system (which is vastly different from most continental systems), taken power away from our politicians in favour of unelected bureaucrats and causing lack of democracy.  Many of the regulations are expensive and damaging to our industries and economy and alien to our culture.  The costs involved in being a member of this thoroughly objectionaable organisation totally outweigh the benefits.  In fact there are no benefits to being members of the EU which could not be achieved by a free trade agreement and co-operation where appropriate.

Why is it important?

My idea is important because our country is being totally ruined by our EU membership and the costs are far more than we can afford, particularly in the present climate.  There are absolutely no advantages to our membership and very many disadvantages.
