Review of laws surrounding where, when and how you can get married

The idea

I would like the coalition government to review the laws in England and Wales that restrict where, when and how a couple can get married, and propose that they are made more inclusive like those in Scotland and the US.

Why is it important?

This would encourage more couples to get married, be more inclusive to people of other religions and beliefs, and in so doing foster a greater respect amongst the wider public of other beliefs, religions, lifestyles and cultures.

It is wrong that currently people with Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Humanist, Pagan and many other beliefs cannot have their weddings legally recognised by the state and must have a secondary service in a registery office or other anonymous registered building. There are many people out there who would like to participate in marriage but whose views and beliefs are excluded by current legislature.
