Being "In the EU but not ruled by the EU" is  impossible; we are either in and subject to all the tiresome rules and regulations at enormous cost OR we are out and free to trade with both Europe and the wider world.  The current policy enunciated by William Hague is much the same as professing to be "a little bit pregnant" – one either is or is not pregnant with no half measures.  We should repeal the European Communities Act 1972, to give us our freedom and save billions of pounds to help reduce the deficit.

Why is this idea important?

The UK just cannot afford to spend so much money supporting this grtandiose project, which is rapidly reaching the point where all the members of the EU will be ruined unless the leaders see sense and accede to the wishes of the majority of their people who wish to leave the EU.
