freedom from pain.

I have lupus which is a chronic  long term illness. My sister died of this disease. I have a rash which has gotten worse over time It is extremely sore and is keeping me awake at night. My GP will not give me any treatment until i ihave seen a dermatologist. I have waited six weeks to see a dermatologist only to have my appointment cancelled because the dermatologist left. I now have to wait to be referred to another dermatologist. This is intolerable. I have even turned up at A&E and they would not treat me although they will treat drunks.

Hospital assessments

Forms should be available at all hospitals,  all libraries and all local government offices on which patients could report back on any matter pertaining to treatment in any hospital.

The forms could have tick boxes for functions and could be read mechanically.  A computer program could look for matching complaints and high scores over a number of forms

The forms should go to a government agency,  where a mechanical system would read the forms,  and a computer would look for complaints which occurred frequently.  Such instances would trigger a visit by a government inspector would visit the hospital to sort out the problem.

I don't care how many tonsils a hospital takes out,  or how many hip replacements it does.  I do care about how I am looked after and the successful outcome of any treatment,  and I don't want to pick up MRSA or any other superbug.

administration of medicine without requiring consent – urgent

Side effects mental health treatment take for granted are inhumane; the dose that gives these hyperawful effects is administrated without requiring the patients permission.

Permission should always be required; patients' opinions of their medication should be respectfully acknowledged and requests for lesser dosage should be obeyed without exception.

Minds will take preventative measures to outdo critical physical health, adverse onsets of debilitating mental states, and can and do include accident preventions.

In the mind, dimensions are 'yesterday and censured memory-banks', and also 'tomorrow and possibility'; when critical eruption of reason and emotions are within possibility the brain recognises a logic having emergency measures and initiates supreme proxy; homes each ration enough secure ID.

The Government amend application processes for completing & registering Lasting Power of Attorney (both Property and Financial Affairs & Health and Welfare) AND that registering these should be free

To radically overhaul and simplify the application process for completion of both types of Power of Attorney. Members of the public should be involved in each stage of the redesign so that forms are easy to understand, even where complex pieces of information are being given. To also look at additional ways that these can be completed, examples include allowing online completion of the documents with ‘pop up’ clear help boxes at each section. On-line operator support in completion to explain certain terms. The ability to save forms online and return to them several times. Where these forms repeatedly require the same information, once entered, the information should populate/complete all the relevant sections throughout the entire form.

The registering of the documents should also be free, not least because of the financial savings common use of these Power of Attorneys would bring to the NHS and Social Services in managing and supporting the care needs of people who become incapacitated.

Curb the powers of the National Institute for Clinical Excellence to restrict feedom of choice in medicine

The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) should be providing guidance and suggestions for treatment protocols, not dictating precisely what doctors are and are not allowed to do. The position of NICE needs to be clarified so that doctors who believe that it is appropriate in specific cases to deviate from the NICE guidance feel able to do so without fear of repercussions. Patients should be free to make an informed choice for the treatment approach they want where supported by their doctor, even if this is not currently considered 'best practice' by NICE. The current regime is stifling innovation and harming patients.

Medicalise – Not Criminalise – Drug Addiction

The Swiss and Dutch, are successfully treating drug addicts, including those hooked on hard drugs such as heroin as a primarily medical, rather than criminal problem.

There are several benefits to this policy including the fact that it frees up police time and removes the glamour from drug addiction, discouraging people from starting.

The police are free to pursue dealers, burglars and other criminals, but not those possessing personal quantities and 'getting high on their own supply' in the privacy of their own home.
