Review and remove building regulations

Many of the current and pending building regulations have been developed and promoted by equipment and product manufacturers. Their intention is to promote the requirement for use of their equipement and products. For example a recent introduction to Part G requires any new build to have an anti scald valve as part of the system. This was championed by a Lib Dem MP and supported by one of the large valve manufacturers. If anyone scalds themselves getting into a hot bath they are either; too young to be getting in on their own: too old to be allowed to get in on their own or are simply plain stupid. To impose this requirement on all new builds increases the cost again caused by the few onto the many. The number who scald themselves out of 60 million people I would hazard a guess to be very small but under the last government their stock answer was to create a blanket regulation or law against the many.

I do agree that a number of building regs are necessary and should be retained.

Why is this idea important?

Consent and Majority… fix please

The issue:

Age of Consent: 16
anyone at or above this age may engage in sexual acts with another consenting person

Age of Majority: 18
anyone below this age cannot vote and is considered a child for the purposes of child porn.

look a bit wierd to you too? it’s currently illegal to own or make indecent images of a 17 year old even if they agree (or even if it’s yourself), but it’s perfectly fine to have sex with them or someone a year younger on a regular basis if they give consent.

Now i may not be a certified genious, but last I checked, sex was a bit more intimate and more likely to result in lifechanging consequences than owning a picture of your girlfriend topless.

Explain the discrepancy please. Then fix what is obviously broken by changing the wording in all relevant laws replacing “18” with “age of consent”.

Stop Local Councils from Prosecuting Innocent People with Barmy Laws

Local councils are threatening to prosecute and are even prosecuting law abiding people (who are not harming anyone else and in some cases actually trying to improve society) for some of the most bizarre reasons.

If you do not believe me consider the following absolutely true and completely daft cases that have appeared in the national and local press

(i) Wiltshire Council threatened a man with prosecution if he cleaned the grass verge outside his property .

(ii) Copeland Borough Council fined a man because his wheelie bin lid was overfilled by four inches.

(iii) Swansea Council prosecuted a man for accidentally putting the rubbish in the wrong cycling bin and now he has a criminal record. The irony here was this man was a keen recycler who was trying hard to recycle.

(iv) Havering Council prosecutes a law abiding shop owner for a scap of paper 120 yards from his shop. That could happen to anyone, for all we know the paper could have been dropped when the bin men last collected the bins or it could have just blown out of the bin.

(v) Ipswich Council fined a 14 year old £50 for feeding a seagull half a chip.

(vi) Hinckley and Bosworth Council prosecuted a man for putting two pieces of junk mail into a street bin with his address on it. Is it really a criminal offence to put rubbish in a street bin?

I could go on and on…

My proposals are that the government should, at the very least, be minded to:

(1)  reword or even, in some cases repeal, any central government laws which allows such crazy prosecutions (or crazy threats to prosecute). I realise that for local bye-laws it might be difficult for central government to do anything.

(2)  not use the criminal law over such trivial matters. Something as serious as a criminal prosecution is not appropriate for some trivial offence like putting rubbish in the wrong place. In none of these cases has anyone deliberately littered or deliberately refused to recycle. Maybe this could be achieved by primary legislation in parliament.

(3) tell councils very firmly that they must use their powers far more sparingly and far more responsibly.

Stop Council Waste Audits

Your Council may be rummaging through your waste bin, trying to find out your personal details and habits, such as what you throw away, what you buy, your discarded mail, your ethnic background. They do it without your consent or even your knowledge. They spend your money on doing it. They claim to be able to do this with the backing of the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. It is an outrageous violation of civil liberties and should be outlawed.

welfare and rights

welfare state and people who clam housing benefit and see as there 'rights' are the biggest live in the main without regard to the rest of the neighbours.

my right to enjoy my own home has been blighted by housing benefit claimant who have more rights than home owners.

Destruction of my civil liberties (cannabis use)

I would just like to inform you that your continued destruction of the civil liberties and human rights of grown adults who cause no harm to the public, has made it necessary for me to purchase a rope in order to hang myself with. I have investigated the technique on the internet and will do the deed soon when i can pluck up the courage. I will never understand why your organisation and officers actually seek pleasure from making criminals out of people who are harming nobody (aside from the fact that you must get a kick out of bullying people). Male officers tend to be mummy's boys whos hands smell of soap and the females are like Cherie Booth (constantly hovering behind you while you're trying to look at porn on the internet). I thought i'd left school. Why does your organization seek enjoyment in smashing down the doors of peoples homes in pursuit of a herb. Why do your officers seek pleasure in destroying the lives of people who actually pay your wages? I work 56.5 hours every single week. All night work and all at a flat rate barely above the minimum wage. My carbon footprint is negligible. I live within 2 miles of my work, share a 14 year old car with another working adult who is also on minimum wages. I never go abroad, rarely go out and spend my days off in bed. I will never own my own home and never have any children. I am 43. Despite this, last month i had nearly £500 stolen from my wages by the government to pay for the likes of your officers wages and lucrative overtime. I feel like a cornered animal simply because hugely destructive alcohol doesn't agree with me whereas good quality cannabis does. 'Superskunk' is a big red herring. When your officers go shopping to the supermarket, do they pick all the manky, small fruit? No, your organisation clearly enjoys making criminals of people who aren't. Too scared to go onto gypsies sites and give them a hard time. Too frightened to deal with organised gangs who sit on millions of pounds of ill-gotten gains. No, lets go for an easy target. You are destroyers of the meek and harmless. I firmly believe that Pink Floyd would have been closed down by the Police, given half a chance. You seem to get your kicks out of picking on certain sections of society whom you dislike. You are in the business of bullying. I wonder how one of your officers would feel to have his door smashed down at 3:00 in the morning while he is in bed, wearing his wifes nighty. To be frogmarched to a police van, have all of his booze confiscated, loose his home and his job. When i finally top myself, you'll have to find some other taxpayer, prepared to live in work all night paying your wages. All of you have blood on your hands.

All innocent people to be taken off all data bases

All people found innocent must be taken off all data bases. This includes removal from D.N .A bases, C.R B  unfounded, unfavourable reports, untrue sex offenders register inclusions  and arrest warrent reports.

I do not of course condone any criminal behaviour especially with regard to children.

But  the former government seems to have put in place the powers to perform irrational witch hunts in these areas, and many innocent people are caught in this net and can never escape.

Their names are forever tainted and job searches will constantly find their names on such lists  and deny them oppurtunities to get beyond the nightmare of unfounded suspicions. .

This is virtually  a life sentence for crimes that were not committed,

This is  irrational, illogical and unjust, and not what British justice is supposed to be respected for.

Whatever the  suspected crime, in any category, including violent or sexually related crime, if found innocent, that must be respected and believed.

People are falsely criminalised and their lives stopped , society is deprived of valuable member's input, and it is a huge waste of time and money to put such people and their family and friends through the financial and emotional turmoil.

This is urgently in need of renovation

Repeal all legislation imposing enforcement duties on Local Authorities

Local Authorities have a wide range of enforcment duties imposed on them; e.g. dealing with underage sales of fireworks, alcohol and tobacco, dealing with anti-social behaviour, noise nuisance and similar matters.

The traditional methods of investigating these (used for decades) are now considered surveillance and LAs are expected to get RIPA authorisation for them. As it appears certain that this authorisation wil be removed from councils, so should the duties as they will become ueforceable.  No tasks without the tools to do them!

REPEAL LAWS AGAINST PORNOGRAPHY

Pornography is very much a personal view.  An old friend of mine used to say that the erotic ends where pubic hairs begin.  Our national galleries are full of nudes, nude studies.  Explicit and graphic depictions of consensual sex are probably preferable to the graphic depictions of violence we are assaulted with in war, horror and crime movies.

Don’t decide for me

Give us back the right to choose-

I know we have chosen our MP to speak for us, but please on large issues like smoking, hunting etc. give us the right to choose!

If, as the government seem to think – we do not understand – educate us!

Any laws which allow prisoners to sue the state for conditions

It doesn't happen alot but why should we compensate criminals who get a bad back because of the matress they sleep on IN JAIL!? I expect its the human rights act which allows this
